When Lauren first approached me to help redo her existing website she was a self confessed DIY junkie. She originally built her site on Weebly and did a great job. But her business had reached the point where she was ready to outsource some of her DIY tasks and focus more time on making delicious sweet treats. Initially the brief was to take the existing site, replicate it using Wordpress with a few changes here and there to jazz up the layout a bit. Before we had time to launch the rebuilt site Lauren took another big step to outsource her branding to really step up the visual look of her brand. Luckily for me Lauren chose one of my favourite graphic designers for the task. Rowena from Preddy Creative generated a gorgeous new colour palette and visual elements that I could use to completely overhaul the website.

I had a lot of fun building this site and not just because I got to spend hours on end looking at and thinking about cake. Ok, so yes that was a big part of why I loved building this site. The new branding colour scheme that Rowena and Lauren came up with was so nice to work with. The combination of the stunning richness of Royal Blue and Vermillion (red) with the softer pink and peach colours made for some lovely contrasting elements throughout the site.There is also nothing a designer likes more than having lots of high quality imagery to work with when pulling a site together and there was no shortage of images to choose from for this build.
Since launching the website in July 2018 Lauren has taken over management of the site in a glorious fashion. She has slowly made changes to the home page design, added a small online shop and got herself a brand new logo to match her new branding. I build sites the way I do so that my clients can feel empowered to manage their own sites going forward if that’s what they want to do. I’m loving changes Lauren has made and can’t wait to see what her next move is. P.S. I can confirm Lauren’s small bites are even more delicious than they are good looking.
